Stremio Setup Guide: Streaming Movies and TV on Non-iOS Devices

Important: This Stremio configuration guide is for streaming movies/TV on Windows, Mac, Android, FireOS (including Fire Stick and Fire TV), Linux, AndroidTV, and Steam Deck. It does not support iOS devices (iPhone, iPad). If you're an iOS user, this guide isn't applicable.
To complete this setup, you will need a Windows, Mac, Linux, or Android device.
FireOS and Linux users: Check the additional information provided after the Stremio setup guide. You must complete the setup steps with one of the supported devices first.
Stremio Setup Guide
Part 1: Install Stremio
- Windows/Mac Users: Visit stremio.com to download the relevant client for your platform.
- Android Users: Install Stremio through the Google Play Store. If it's unavailable in your country, use the website link instead.
- Account Setup: Open Stremio and sign up using your email or Facebook account.
Part 2: Real Debrid Setup
- Go to Real-Debrid and sign up for an account.
- Navigate to the Premium Offers section, choose a package, and subscribe. Using Amazon Pay can be the most convenient option for payment if you have an Amazon account.
Part 3: Torrentio Setup
- Go to Torrentio Lite - Stremio Addon or Torrentio (Stremio add-on).
- Scroll down, select Debrid Provider and choose Real Debrid from the drop-down menu. This will prompt a new text box to appear.
- API Key: Copy your API key from Real-debrid API Token and paste it into the "RealDebrid API Key" box.
- Debrid Options: Check "Don't show download to debrid links" and "Don't Show debrid catalog"
- Install Add-on: Click Install at the bottom. This will open Stremio and prompt an "Install Addon" window. Click the green install button.
Optional but Recommended: In Stremio, go to the puzzle piece icon in the top right to view My Addons. Uninstall WatchHub to declutter your stream list.
Now you’re ready to install Stremio on other devices (excluding iOS). Simply log in to your Stremio account to start streaming movies/TV.
Additional Setup for FireOS Devices (Fire Stick, Fire TV)
Once you've completed the initial setup, follow these steps to install Stremio on FireOS:
- Watch Setup Video: Refer to this video for installation instructions.
- Log into your Stremio account. This will sync your setup, including shows and settings, across all devices. Note: Some FireOS devices may not support 4K streaming.
Update (10/16/2023): Fire Stick users should download the Android TV apk from the Stremio downloads section for an improved UI. This update was made after the video was created and provides a better user experience on smart TVs.
Linux Setup
- Use the Flatpak installer for Stremio on Linux.
- At the time of creating this guide, there were no known setup issues with Linux devices. However, if you encounter issues, it may be due to custom defaults or settings.
- Alternative: Complete the setup on a recommended device first, then install and log into the Stremio app on your Linux device to sync settings.
Additional Information
- VPN: No VPN is needed for this configuration.
- Account Sharing: Only share your Stremio account with people on the same WiFi network. Sharing across different networks may result in a suspension of your Real Debrid account.
Bugs/Glitches and Troubleshooting
- No Streams Found: Occasionally, a show or movie may display "No streams found." This issue typically resolves on its own.
- Black Screen but Audio: If the video is black but audio is still playing, select a stream with a different resolution.
- No Streams Available: If no streams are appearing or working, try the following:
- Check if your Real Debrid subscription has expired by logging into your account.
- Verify if Real Debrid servers are down or undergoing maintenance. In this case, try again after an hour.
- Recheck the steps to ensure there were no errors during setup.
If you’re still having trouble, feel free to reach out.
